What We Do

Make a meaningful impact-- on your schedule!

AccentCare Hospice is seeking compassionate volunteers to support our patients, families, and care teams behind the scenes. Indirect Care Volunteers play an essential role in ensuring our hospice services run smoothly and that patients and families feel supported—even without direct patient contact.

This role is ideal for those who want to make a difference through organization, creativity, and service while working in a flexible, supportive environment.

AccentCare Hospice proudly serves patients and families in your local community, wherever they call home.

What our Direct Care Volunteers Do:

Volunteers provide non-medical support tailored to each patient’s needs, such as:

  • Visiting and providing companionship and conversation
  • Reading together, taking short walks, or sharing music
  • Offering caregiver relief so loved ones can rest or run errands
  • Assisting with legacy projects—special mementos that help families remember and honor their loved ones
  • Providing calming, supportive presence during bedside visits

No two visits are the same, and every interaction makes a difference.

Other Direct Care roles include:

  • Loyal Friends Pet Teams – Therapy dog visits that bring comfort and joy
  • Music Companions – Using music to enhance emotional well-being
  • Spiritual Companions – Supporting patients of the same faith alongside our chaplains
  • Legacy Project Volunteers – Helping create memory books, letters, or recordings
  • Vigil Volunteers – Offering quiet presence and comfort to patients who are actively dying.

What our Indirect Care Volunteers Do:

Volunteers provide non‑patient‑facing support that helps our care teams and families focus on what matters most. Opportunities may include:

  • Assisting in the hospice office with administrative tasks
  • Organizing supplies, assembling comfort kits, or preparing mailings
  • Creating cards, crafts, memory items, or special projects for patients and families
  • Supporting bereavement services and family programs
  • Helping with outreach, events, and community engagement activities

Every task, big or small, helps us deliver compassionate, personalized care.

Other Indirect Care roles include:

  • Circle of Care Caller- Make weekly calls to patients and caregivers to check in to see how they are doing and if any supplies or medicines are needed before the weekend!
  • Bereavement Volunteers- Support our bereavement center by making calls to caregivers, family, and friends of patients that have passed at 6 and 12 month milestones (low risk for bereavement calls only).
  • Memorial Event Support- Help support our memorial event where we bring patient's loved ones together to celebrate and memorialize their lives.

You can choose the role that best fits your interests, skills, and comfort level.
