Who We Are

The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian Church. Its message is based on the Bible. Its ministry is motivated by the love of God. Its mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination. We have been serving the Longview community since 1931.

What We Do

For those with no place to go or in need of emergency shelter, The Salvation Army of Longview offers a homeless shelter which provides a warm, safe place for men, women, and families to stay. Intake is daily at 5pm. We also offer a job search program weekly. he Salvation Army of Longview offers rent and utility assistance, as well as a Commodity Closet for those household items and toiletries that can't be purchased with food stamps. The Salvation Army of Longview serves dinner 7 nights a week at 5:45 pm while our Food Pantry provides grocery baskets to those in need Monday through Friday from 9am to 4pm. The Salvation Army recognizes that holidays can bring added financial and emotional stress for families in need. We offer a variety of services to help families and individuals make it through more difficult holiday seasons. Angel Tree sign-up is in October each year with gift distribution occurring the week before Christmas, and is open to residents of Gregg and Harrison Counties. We provide Youth programs and camp for kids.
