Senior homeowner had a tree limb fall on her house last year. She received temporary help and has tarps in the areas where holes were created.  One of the corners on one of the tarps has come loose and she needs help tacking it back down while she waits for a new roof. There is also a hole in the soffit that needs to be repaired. 

Homeowner needs help with clearing a very overgrown backyard, raking and other yard tasks. The backyard weeds are 4-6' in height so special equipment may be needed. The home could also benefit from raking and a little junk/litter removal. 

Elderly widow needs her home pressure washed. 

Homeowner with medical issues needs help removing junk from his yard and reorganizing it. Many of the items are heavy and will require strong backs to move. The homeowner will be present during the workday but he has back issues and is unable to lift very much. 

Disabled widow with multiple health issues needs help with sheetrock repair in dining room and garage (her ceiling fell in).  The dining room is 11'x11'6" and the garage is 12'x11'6" (roughly 12 sheets of drywall). Other materials needed include drywall screws, tape, mud compound and paint.

We have volunteers who have donated their time and skilled labor to tackle this project but who cannot provide the materials. 

Elderly homeowner is requesting painting help for her recently repaired front steps and porch. Homeowner has the paint.  She is also requesting assistance making repairs to a shed that houses her generator. The shed is leaking causing her generator to be exposed to the elements.

We’re looking for compassionate, hands-on volunteers to join our Life Skills Program, an ongoing series of classes designed to help individuals build confidence, independence, and essential daily living skills.

Our topics rotate regularly, giving volunteers the opportunity to teach one class, facilitate a short series, or commit to an ongoing life skill area that matches their interests and expertise.

 Circle of Friends Camps are for children with developmental and physical disabilities and their families.  These amazing camps provide a place for community and understanding with respite care for caregivers, and a whole lot of camp fun for the kids. Volunteers care for the children during the camp day while parents take time for a walk, a nap, a book, a swim, or fellowship with others.  A volunteer shared “I came to care for these children, but I have received so much more back from them than I could ever give! How to love, accept people, and be present for another – it’s not complicated, but these are the most important things!” It is because of the generosity of many that Circle of Friends is free for all participating families and volunteers. Each year Circle of Friends Camps bring in about 120 volunteers each year to come and provide respite care for families. A volunteer can receive 30 hours of volunteer service for each weekend

We provide a resource room for our non-resident clients. This room provides non-perishable food and hygiene items. Examples of items needed include: canned vegetables, macaroni & cheese, canned meats, ramen, body lotion, body wash, full size shampoo & conditioner, shaving cream, razors, feminine products and baby diapers of all sizes

Items can be dropped off at Women's Center Advocacy Center or Hope's Closet-1011 Wal Street Ste 101, Longview, TX 75605

Children or teens who come through our center are offered a "comfort item" after completing a forensic interview, medical exam, or therapy session. These items include new stuffed animals, blankets, Matchbox cars, nail polish, journals, coloring books, or gift cards to a favorite coffee shop or restaurant.

Single working mom has a broken window in the rear of her home that needs to be replaced. Dimensions can be provided upon request. 

A single mother, who is also helping raise her niece's 2 year old, needs help cutting up some felled trees in the rear of her property as well as removing overgrown vegetation. 

Ideal for groups of 4-10. Chainsaws needed. 

Medically disabled homeowner has requested help removing some junked items from her property as well as cutting back the overgrown vegetation on her property. Some of the work could be managed with basic yard tools, but heavier yard equipment is recommended. Small chain saws may be helpful. 

Ideal for volunteer groups of 8-12. 

80-year-old homeowner has a window with a window unit installed in it. She needs the unit removed so that the window can be cleaned on the inside. Once cleaned, she needs the window and unit reinstalled. She also needs help removing some overgrown vegetation and painting of her porch overhang. (She has the paint.) 

Middle-aged homeowner who was laid off from her job and is struggling financially is requesting assistance with repairing damages done to her home in the May 8, 2019 storm.  During that storm, trees fell on her home and damaged the bricks on one side. She paid a contractor who was going door-to-door to fix the damages but he stole her money and did not perform the repairs. She salvaged as many of the bricks as she could but may volunteers may need to provide some new materials.

Accustomed to working full time in service-related type work (including child protective), it has been hard for her to ask for help.

The homeowner also needs assistance caulking windows / doors to prevent water infiltration. 

Elderly homeowner has requested assistance mowing her back lot and pressure washing her home (and possibly driveway). The back lot will require heavy lawn equipment as it is severely overgrown. 

The amount of work could accommodate groups of 10-12; however, with only one source for water and with the need for a backhoe or heavy yard equipment, it's probably better suited for smaller volunteer groups who are willing to work longer hours. 

Homeowner who is physically unable to do yardwork has requested assistance with basic yard upkeep such as mowing, weed-eating and edging, as well as raking of leaves in the fall. 

Disabled widow with multiple health issues needs help with sheetrock repair in dining room and garage (her ceiling fell in).  The dining room is 11'x11'6" and the garage is 12'x11'6" (roughly 12 sheets of drywall). Other materials needed include drywall screws, tape, mud compound and paint. 

Elderly couple with a disabled son had a new wheelchair ramp built by volunteers. They've requested assistance with staining or painting the ramp. Volunteers would have to provide the materials and supplies. 

Ideal for a small group with 2-6 volunteers. 

Individually wrapped snacks and a variety of drinks are needed for children, teens, caregivers and investigative partners during services at our center. Favorites include chips, crackers, fruit snacks, cookies, trail mix, bottled water, juice boxes, and YooHoo.

Supplies such as baby wipes, toilet paper, paper towels, copy paper, postage stamps, sanitizing wipes and cleaning products are also greatly appreciated.

An elderly gentleman needs assistance with power washing his home, painting his front and side porches and repairing a few pieces of siding at the front of the home that has suffered water damage.

Partners in Prevention’s Go With the Flow is a collaboration among civic groups, schools, youth-serving organizations, faith communities, businesses, high school students, and others interested in decreasing period poverty and increasing menstrual equity for girls in the Longview area by providing menstrual products to students via school personnel and organizations. Go With the Flow meetings are held on the third Wednesday of each month at 1:30 p.m. (call 903-237-1019 for location) and are open to anyone interested in addressing menstrual equity in the greater Longview area.

Inaccessibility to safe and hygienic menstrual products or the inability to afford products during monthly cycles.

Menstrual Equity refers to equal and comprehensive access to menstrual products and education.

In March 2024, Partners in Prevention hosted a meeting to hear from those highly engaged with youth based on informal conversations about whether period poverty exists in Longview. The findings showed it is a problem, and to a surprising level.  Nationally, 1 in 5 girls misses school (one class up to several days)  for lack of product accessibility. Statistics align with the schools in the Longview area, especially for economically disadvantaged students.

In May 2024, Partners in Prevention emailed a survey to school nurses and counselors asking to what extent period poverty was a problem on their campus. Here are some of the results:

The Aspire Mentoring Program’s mission is to inspire and encourage young people for leadership through positive relationships. We recruit, screen, and train caring adults to be mentors for youth in kindergarten through 12th grade. Students we match with a mentor are in Longview, Pine Tree, Spring Hill, White Oak, and Hallsville I.S.D.s and homeschooled.

A Volunteer Partner to the Chapter Executive Director is a leadership volunteer who works in partnership with the Executive Director with the primary goal of building capacity to deliver the local Red Cross mission. The Volunteer Partner extends the reach of the Executive Director by serving as administrative support in the East Texas area.

We are looking for tutors to work one on one with our students on their studies.  You can create a schedule with your student that is flexible to your schedule.  No experience required just patience and to be encouraging.  

Volunteers are vital to The Martin House Children’s Advocacy Center. From working with children at our center to helping with special events and fundraisers, volunteers of all ages are needed in a variety of capacities.

The Community Healthcore Foundation is seeking individuals in Gregg, Upshur, Rusk, Panola, and Harrison counties who are passionate about the mission of Community Healthcore and willing to serve as a Board of Directors on the Community Healthcore Foundation Board. The Foundation Board meets 6 times a year and hosts two fundraisers. We are looking for individuals who want to make a difference in their community. 

The Community Healthcore Foundation is a 501(c)(3) charitable foundation that was established in 2001 to bring awareness of Community Healthcore services and to raise funds for programs that enhance the lives of people served by Community Healthcore with mental illnesses, substance use disorders, and intellectual and developmental disabilities.

The Foundation provides grants to Community Healthcore programs to assist with the growth and needs of the programs.  Some grants provided in the past were used to purchase programming items, provided a retreat for women veterans, provided start-up funds for the Cornerstone project, provided start-up funds for the Marshall day habilitation soap business, Heavenly Scent Soap, as well as many other projects.

Two major fundraising events are held annually allowing the Foundation’s continued support to Community Healthcore.  The Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot 5K is held in Texarkana and Champions for Change Golf Tournament in Longview.  Other activities throughout the year include East Texas Giving Day and a Veteran’s Day luncheon.
