Poverty is a reality for many individuals and families. But unless you’ve experienced poverty, it’s difficult to truly understand. The Poverty Simulation bridges that gap from misconception to understanding. CAPS is an interactive immersion experience. It sensitizes community participants to the realities of poverty.
Volunteers serve in various roles, representing Banker, Grocery Store Clerk, Utilities, Mortgage Company, Pawn Shop Owner, Employer, Social Service Case Worker, Teacher, Quick Cash Owner, and more. Participants role-play a family member who faces daily struggles of buying food, paying rent/mortgage to prevent eviction, working, and attending school.
