Who We Are
Letters Against Isolation was founded in 2020 by teenage sisters Shreya and Saffron, who began writing letters to seniors during the COVID-19 lockdowns. What started as a small act of kindness quickly became a global movement.
Today, LAI is a volunteer-run 501(c)(3) nonprofit connecting tens of thousands of seniors with caring letter writers across Texas, the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Australia. Our mission is simple: send meaningful, handwritten letters that help older adults feel more connected to the world around them.
What We Do
About Letters Against Isolation
We organize volunteers of all ages to write personal, uplifting letters to seniors in care homes and community programs. Since 2020, our community has mailed over 1 million letters in more than 40 languages, helping older adults feel remembered, valued, and connected.
