Who We Are

Longview Animal Care and Adoption Center is the City of Longview’s open-admission animal shelter servicing Gregg County, Texas. Established in July 2016, we accept any animal in any condition from within Gregg County, including the cities of Longview, Kilgore, White Oak, and Gladewater. LACAC is a 22k-square-foot facility with the capacity to hold 180+ animals. All animals are medically and behaviorally assessed on intake. Our mission is, first and foremost, to reunite animals with their owners. If no owner is found, we work tirelessly to secure loving, forever homes for all happy, healthy adoptable animals. All adoptions include spay/neuter, microchipping, and age-appropriate vaccinations. The shelter anticipates caring for approximately 4,500 animals each year, including dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, birds, and a variety of other species. LACAC is open to the public Tuesday through Saturday from 12 to 5 p.m. Our receiving area (drop-offs, reclaims, and microchipping) is by appointment only, and our adoption lobby stops showing adoptable animals at 4:30 PM. Our facility has a staff of 28 employees who are on-site 7 days a week, 365 days a year providing care for the animals in our shelter.

What We Do

Join our team of volunteers at Longview Animal Care and Adoption Center!

We're thrilled to welcome you to our volunteer program! Our shelter is always looking for new volunteers to help us provide the animals with what they need most: personal attention, hands-on care, and love. Each animal benefits greatly from the extra time spent with them, which increases their chances of finding a loving home. Volunteers play a crucial role in achieving this goal, making their contribution incredibly valuable to our cause.
